2017 Whole Bunch Grenache
$45.00
Vintage= 2017
Tasting Notes= This Grenache is sourced from a single site in the warmer southern parts of McLaren vale. Made using a unique small batch winemaking technique to produce a wine of difference and expression. Whole bunches of ripe Grenache are put into a sealed fermenter to allow for a whole berry carbonic maceration for 5 days. The fruit is then foot stomped to break the berries and then left to complete fermentation. It spent 21 days in total fermenting on skins and stalks. Post maturation some wine from the same vineyard was blended (25%) to this whole bunch Grenache to aid its balance and finesse showing intense varietal character with a fresh red fruit and spice flavour profile with a long spicy crunchy tannin finish. An intensely aromatic wine with bright red fruits of raspberry, strawberry and white pepper notes. The palate is medium bodied with bright fruit flavours of strawberry, plum, raspberry & red cherry, layered with spicy charcuterie and pepper. The flavours linger amongst a long spicy crunchy tannin finish.
