2017 Back Block Shiraz

The vintage for this Shiraz came from a single block located halfway between McLaren Vale and Willunga. Heavily influenced by it’s bushland surroundings, this particular vineyard is complex in nature with various geologies of ancient sandstone and deep alluvial clays mixed with aggerate. The best barrels of the vintage were chosen to show the nuances of this McLaren Vale site.

The Back Block Shiraz is an expressive wine showing lifted aromas and concentrated flavours unique to the site, with fine tannin structure that creates elegance and softness over time.

This blend is dark ruby in colour, showing lifted aromas of choc mint, baked raspberries and red currants in combination with cinnamon spice and a hint of smoke. On the palate this blend shows dominant fruit flavours and medium body. Forward flavours include raspberries, red currents and strawberries, while hints of chocolate mint mingle mid-palate alongside cinnamon spice and smoke flavours from oak. The Back Block Shiraz is focused and long with fresh acid and a tight, fine grain finish.
